Don Jose Mexican Cuisine

Our family had a wonderful time and meals at Don Jose! The owner and staff are so nice and attentive. The food was very flavorful and authentic, and was served in very large portions. We will be back anytime we are in town! Thank you so much.

We ultimately chose to dine at Don Jose's, and to our pleasant surprise, the experience was delightful. We received a warm welcome in a festive Cinco de Mayo atmosphere. The family-owned restaurant offered authentic Mexican cuisine that was well worth our time. Our order was generous and delicious. Don Jose celebrated its first anniversary in the Valley. The staff was wonderful, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was pleasant. Although I prefer a thicker salsa with a bit more depth, it was respectable. We will certainly return and highly recommend it. We wish Carlos and his family continued success. Thank you for a nice experience.

Very pleasant! The interior doesn't really have a very mom and pop vibe but the food was very tasty if not the most authentic. Prices seemed slightly higher than the norm in the area but all in all can do a whole lot worse for some chorizo tacos. Server was friendly and attentive and the wait for food was not very long at all.

My first visit and it will not be my last. The food was great. The family is from Mexico so you're getting 100% authentic food. They were helpful with suggestions on what to order. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

April 28, 25. Went there to eat in. We have been carryout only for a while. It was typically good. Flautad were crispy and light. Really liked them. I am not a fan of the charro beans. Everything else there I have liked and I do have one suggestion. The shredded chicken in the enchiladas and flautas is dry. I avoid it. I wish they would undercook it and finish it when they fire it or, better IMHO, use chicken thighs. More forgiving, easier to prep and hold, and difficult to dry out in normal cooking. Went there last week, tonight (5/24/24), and have a dinner scheduled for Thursday. Tonight was Quesabirria (#42) and Spinach Enchiladas (#1). When I can't decide I get #10. And, as usual, guacamole and spicy salsa. (5/11/24) This was our fourth time there. The second time we went we ordered the same stuff we got the first time we went because it was so good. The next two times we ordered different things just because grownups do that and they were wonderful as well. Tonight we went back and it did not disappoint. They will cater to what you would like. So for instance, I do not like bell pepper, but if they've got it, and they usually do, they will sub out poblano peppers for the bell peppers. We love their chicken and rice, but if you would like to have shrimp and rice they can make that work too. I cannot encourage you strongly enough to check these folks out. The food spectacular. The staff are wonderful. And the owners are kind. Had a wonderful meal there last night. Two Enchiladas Tradicionales- one with enchilada sauce and one with mole. Both sauces were very good. The Arroz con Pollo was good as well. The salsas and guacamole were all very good. The picante was flavorful and something of a sleeper. I loved it. It is clear that they have yet to settle into the rhythm of running their service but I remember being Not Very Good my first week on a new job, too, so… And now... TACO TUESDAYS!!!!!!! The staff were lovely and on the ball. Last friday, which someone on here was complaining about vociferously, their their credit card reader crashed and they had to get a new one overnighted. Not quite sure how that is their fault, but if you were unable to go there friday, and didn't write a snarky review, please go back. I would strongly encourage you to try this place. The valley has needed a Mexican restaurant for a while. Let’s keep this one there, Highland Square! The price included margaritas and another drink so that was a big portion of the bill., If you're not drinking figure more in the 10-20 range. Sorry I did such a lousy job on the menu shots and I evidently cannot, in fact, count to 5: I am missing a page. I'll try to get better ones.

We're so excited to have a good Mexican restaurant back in The Valley! The margaritas were excellent they were able to accommodate my special drink order. The salsa picante we added in addition to the standard chips and salsa was spectacular; flavorful not just hot! The guacamole was lovely with a little bit of a sweet note to it. I had the arroz con pollo and it was fabulous. Some of the best Mexican rice I've had ever and certainly the most traditional of what is available locally. The servings were generous and the food was hot at the table. My tablemates enjoyed the enchiladas one with enchilada sauce and the other with molé. Both sauces were to die for and we're picky about our molé Update: brought out of town family tonight and we were all treated like royalty. Thank you, Carlos! We have made it our weekly stop for Mexican food. They are also open for lunch and all afternoon.

Best Mexican we've had in ages! Staff was super friendly and attentive. Queso was excellent severed with soft tortillas. Top shelf margaritas were also excellent! Meals took longer than a typical Mexican restaurant, but this tells me that attention, care and freshness were key components because our meals were fantastic! The fish tacos were amazing! Definitely will be back! Happy (almost) one year anniversary! You did it!

I’ve been here twice and the food is great! The first time was during grand opening so it was a bit crowded with a long wait but this second time coming was great. The staff was super attentive. The food was delicious. The homemade hot sauce had a great flavor. Def recommend asking for that over the bottled. Everything was fantastic though. Glad this opened near my neighborhood!
